Stretch tent hire: A fabulous family 40th for a very special client…
The event
Time Marquees is a family-run business and we’ve been hiring marquees out since the 1990s. One of our team, Sally Christmas, has quite literally grown up amidst the whirl of weddings, parties and wide variety of terrific events we’ve supplied marquees for throughout all these years.
So, when it came to marquee hire for Sally’s 40th birthday party, we wanted to make it just as momentous!
The brief
Family is everything and home is where the heart is! Sally wanted to have her 40th birthday party at home, inviting around fifty of her nearest and dearest. Marquee hire was needed to create enough space for everyone.
Fabulous forty is truly something to celebrate. By having her birthday party at home, everyone could raise as many toasts to Sally as they liked without worrying about corkage. The fizz could flow freely! With lots of delicious food ideas, she didn’t want any restrictions on catering either.
Due to the unpredictable nature of the British weather, the marquee space had to be adaptable, come rain or shine. Sally loves the versatility of our stretch tents but wanted the occasion décor to feel like a party, not a wedding.
The age of guests was varied, so soft seating was required – but with a casual vibe, nothing too formal.
The solution
As you might imagine, we’ve already been round to Sally’s for a cuppa a few times, so we were familiar with the location. However, we still carried out a comprehensive site visit to assess the space and to discuss the event look and feel, catering, entertainment and the age range of the party guests.
By building a clear picture of the requirements, we had all the information we needed to create a fantastic 40th bash for Sally, including:
- 10m x 15m stretch tent with ample space for 50 guests, featuring areas for drinking, eating, relaxing and dancing
- Separate smaller pagoda close to the stretch tent for the caterers (a hog roast company) to cook under and serve food from
- A ‘help yourself’ bar with drinks refrigeration from our sister company Simply Chillers
- Large dance floor for the guests to shimmy and shake their stuff on
- All-weather marquee layout with waterproof cover overhead but an open front and sides, to allow airflow and control humidity
- Mixture of furniture, such as high poseur tables for drinks, bean bags and low coffee tables for chilling, stools for perching and chatting, plus some plastic patio tables and chairs ‘al fresco’
- Atmospheric lighting effects e.g. uplighters around the marquee edge, water effect lighting, and festoon lights to illuminate the night
- Toilets from our sister company Deluxe Loos, so that none of the guests had to go into the house and the whole event was contained outside
- Closed marquee rear to minimise noise disruption to neighbours
We’re pleased to report that Sally gave Time Marquees 10/10 for her 40th birthday party. Some might say she’s biased – but we know we pulled out all the stops to create a memorable milestone celebration for our amazing daughter, sister and Sales & Events Manager. Happy Birthday, Sally!
